How to reboot the kit (station and gateway)
Updated 8 August 2026
To reboot the gateway, switch it off (or unplug it), wait 30 seconds, and switch it back on — then allow a few minutes to reconnect. To reboot a sensor station, use the power button/switch inside the housing if fitted, or briefly disconnect the battery, then refit and return it to the water. A reboot clears most temporary glitches and never deletes your data.
A power-cycle (reboot) clears most temporary glitches — a station that’s stopped reporting, or a gateway that’s dropped its connection. It’s safe and won’t lose any of your history, which is stored in the portal.
Reboot the gateway
- Switch it off at the power switch, or unplug the power adaptor. (On a solar gateway, use its power switch.)
- Wait about 30 seconds so it powers down fully.
- Switch it back on. Watch the status light settle.
- Allow a few minutes for it to reconnect to the internet and for your stations to reappear in the app.
Reboot a sensor station
- Lift the station out of the water by its handle — you don’t need to remove the sensor.
- Open the housing (undo the lid clips/screws). Inside you’ll find the controller and battery.
- Power-cycle it: if there’s a power button or switch, hold/toggle it off then on. If there isn’t, briefly disconnect the battery connector, wait 10 seconds, and reconnect it.
- Close the housing securely so it stays watertight, and return the station to its spot.
- Allow up to 15–30 minutes for it to reconnect to the gateway and start reporting again.
After a reboot
Check the app: the gateway should show connected, and stations back online within half an hour. If something still won’t come back, see station not reporting or gateway offline — or contact support and we’ll help.
