Setting alert thresholds

Set your alert threshold in the app per lake. As a starting point for most carp and coarse fisheries, warn at around 5 mg/L (early warning) and treat below 4 mg/L as urgent. Set an earlier warning if you have big fish or want more time to react. You can set different thresholds for different lakes.
An alert threshold is the dissolved oxygen level at which Lakelytics warns you. Set it high enough to give yourself time to act, but not so high you get nuisance alerts.
Sensible starting points
For most carp and coarse fisheries (general guide — adjust to your stock):

| 5 mg/L | Early warning — oxygen is dipping but fish are fine. Time to get an aerator running. |
| 4 mg/L | Getting serious — stress begins. Treat as urgent. |
| 3 mg/L | Danger — risk of a kill. Immediate action. |
Big, high-value carp deserve an earlier warning (set 5–6 mg/L) because larger fish suffer first and you want maximum reaction time. There’s more background in what is a safe dissolved oxygen level for a fishery.
How to set it
- Open the lake in the app and go to its alerts / thresholds setting.
- Set your warning level (e.g. 5 mg/L). This is the trend-based early warning.
- Optionally set a second, urgent level (e.g. 3.5 mg/L) for a stronger alert.
- Choose who gets alerted and how (push, SMS, email).
- Save, and send a test alert to confirm it reaches you — see I’m not getting alerts.
Automatic aeration
If you’ve linked a smart plug, set the level at which the aerator switches on automatically — often the same as your warning threshold — so the lake responds even before you’ve read the alert.
Different lakes, different thresholds
Each water can have its own thresholds. A deep, well-stocked carp lake might warn earlier than a shallow, lightly stocked one. Set each to suit its stock and history — and adjust seasonally as summer approaches.
